Days on the island
Car ferry
Don't know where it came from
Don't know where it is going
Here she comes
I'm 'yelling' at Curtis to get Gwennie before the side wash comes
There she goes
Curt enjoying a warm spring day
Joe built the chair while in Arizona
It is calling our names!!!!!!
This is one of Joe's projects
He has taken apart repaired and sanded down an ol' patio set that had belonged to Jennifer
Almost finished
Good job Joe
A neat sailboat
A million dollar baby
A storm is rolling in
Early one morning I could hear
HONK HONK HONK HONK
Lots and lots of it
Coming up the river were Canada geese
Several times during the morning they would return and pass by the cottage
The ol' firepit needed a facelift
Joe thinks he first built it 30 years ago
Many a story has been told around the firepit
Many a marshmallow has been roasted over the firepit
Even someone has walked over the coals!!!!!
Island Iris
A fishing boat getting a tow
A gardener's delight
I was surprised to see the deer
The deer was surprised to see me
Having a lick on a salt block
Down a path to a cottage tucked in the woods
I go down the path
I sit in one of the orange chairs
and
this is what I am watching
Do you see anything way up in the tree??????
The babies are getting tired
Eyes closed
One down
One to go!
Last weekend we spoke with the owner of the cottage
He told us the owls have been around for about 25 years
They nested in a tree near the cottage
however
the tree came down in a storm
He spoke with
'the powers to be'
Was told to get a bucket and put it 40 feet up in a tree
So............he did
The owls have nested in the tree since then
I have been waiting for the babies to go out on a limb
I have been watching them for a week now
Nothing happening yet
Will keep you posted

Wow a piece of paradise you call home ! It is quite exquisite and a photographer's dream :) Gwennie looks wonderful and enjoying herself and being well watched from being washed away by boat tides !! The pictures of the island irises are beautiful, as is the bench amongst the hostas with flower pots. Joe is an amazing woodworker, craftsman and miracle restorer...I really enjoyed this blog. Oh by the way on first glance up that tree I thought it was Bing the cat you were watching not baby owls !! lol !!
ReplyDeleteThe chair looks awesome on the dock....very inviting. You definitely have a paradise over there on the island.
