A week before we left the island Joe 'cut up' the ol' boat
It sat for many years up on shore by the cottage
The boat came with the cottage some 35 years ago
She was a good boat but the leaks could not be fixed
Joe and Curt on their way to the scrap yard
Monday September 8th
We are ready
Our first stop was in Midland to visit with dear ol' friends
Diana and Larry
We parked Miss Gypsy in their driveway for the night
Shared a wonderful dinner and breakfast with them
THANKS
It was a grand visit
Next stop Weber's for one of their famous hamburgs
even though it was only 11 a.m.
The 'car' brought back memories of 48 years ago when we were living in Edmonton Alberta
I was expecting our first child
So sick, soooo sick
Joe put me on a train heading for Chatham, Ontario
Sending me home to my Mom for some TLS
Joe paid the porter $5.00 to watch over me
I never did see the porter!!
I dreaded dinner time as I had to go to the dining car and sit with someone I did not know
MAN
That was a killer
Funny how the mind works when you see something that brings back a memory
We had hoped to go out in a canoe while at Algonquin Park
I was 'longing' to catch some loon photos
Water was too choppy
so
Joe drove me around to the different spots where the St. Pat's/St. Christopher high school students canoed
It was fun to see what he has seen for so many years
We drove to a resort where we took a walk by the lake
While camping many years ago Joe and his friend Kirk had a shore lunch across the lake from this lodge
Each sheet showed a picture of a plant and told a story
Nice way to display the information
This red squirrel made quite a bit of noise as I got closer to it
I heard it before I saw it
Trying to get closer to the lake so I could take a picture
This is what I was trying to get close to!
Very few trees were starting to turn
Lucky on this one
This was at the parking lot for Bartlett Lodge
Our spot for the night
Right in the middle of the woods!
Lake Superior
On the road heading towards the Soo
This hat caught my eye!!!!!
Whoa......good deal
Stopped for gas
Wonder where these trucks have been??????
Free as a bird
Next stop for the night
Roosevelt Park
ND
Fields and fields of sunflowers
I bet I have taken this photo before
Imagine living in this home
Nothing
Absolutely nothing around
Nice green colour
Normally the old homesteads were white
I think?
Someone is having a grand time
We saw three or four air streams along the way
A beep of the horn
and
A wave
Penticton across the lake
We are nearly home
The air stream is parked
We are taking in all the sights of the new winery
There's our home
The shack
Right beside the winery
Hmmmmm
During the summer while the kids were home
there was a flood in the basement of the shack
Oh boy
What a mess
Everything came up to the main floor
Graham's friend Ted came up for a few days and helped out Joe and Graham \
They put plywood on the outside of the shack in preparation for stucco which would match that of the winery
Inside of the tasting room
What a view they will have
Ethan has a new sport
Thanks Ted for you help
Ted is off to meet his wife
They are about to partake in a bike race
Ethan into another hockey season
Big crane on the job
Working on the roof
Jennifer came up for a few days
She along with her two dogs and two cats stayed in the air stream
Getting ready for the first harvest
Stucco day
Yeah
Jennifer packed and ready to head back to Squamish
All aboard
It looks like Hunter is waiting for the pumpkin to be thrown
There must be a ball around somewhere????
First pick
What an exciting day!!!!!!
As Gail said...........
History in the making
View from the shack
Ha..............the basement
Joe is putting down a sub floor
This is where all the water came gushing down
The carpenter has also been very busy building a cedar closet within the closet in the basement which is also our bedroom
Hunter and another great looking dog hanging out during the first pick
This fellow belongs to one of the pickers
CONGRATULATIONS GRAHAM AND LYNDSAY
WELL DONE
Garen with a little grape juice!
Unloading Miss Gypsy
Stephanie drew this sign for us
Jennifer added Gwendolyn!!!!!
Getting there
First night sleeping at the shack............
Last Thursday night
Bing finding a spot to have a bath
Gwendolyn keeping me company while I worked upstairs
and
Joe worked downstairs
One day last week Graham, Garen and I went out to the owl sanctuary
A young eagle
Hoodini
This owl has been at the sanctuary since it was 3 days old
It is now 15 years old
Hoo often goes to school to visit with the children
Meet Roy
Roy was raised by 'humans' since he was a tiny bird and became too friendly with the neighbourhood people who lived on Roy Street here in Penticton
Someone called the Sanctuary to come and get Roy
Roy now lives at the Sanctuary
For how long I do not know??????
Driving home from the Sanctuary we came across this rainbow that went right into the lake
AMAZING
The weather changed many many times that day
Beautiful Gwendolyn
For you Georgette................
Ethan has music class this year at school
This was his choice
I took a ride with Graham up the mountain to pick up his trail camera
The only animal we saw with four legs was a lonely cow walking down the road
Now
This is what I call living
A nice comfy place to sit
Plus
A beautiful view of the lake in the distance
Coming down the mountain
Meet Lucy
Lynday's new dog as of this summer
She is a sweet girl

First day with the O'Rourke family
Cottage life
Travelling west
This was Tulip's first road trip
We were wondering how she would fare.......
Tulip sat in between Joe and I on the console
She was a real trooper!
Life on the vineyard
Tulip had a fine time
She would visit the constructions workers at the winery
and
spend time with Lyndsay inside the winery
She would follow Graham around the vineyard
She would come in each afternoon for a a nap
She was the Queen of purring, never had a cat before who would purr while waiting for her food and continue purring while she ate
She was the Queen of friendliness
She loved people, dogs and cats
Tulip had an encounter with a coyote and unfortunately for her she lost her life to the coyote
It was a sad day at the vineyard
Poor little tulip...she had a wonderful life with the O'Rourkes that is for sure!! Great photos mom...loved seeing everything you have seen on your travels. We are so happy for Graham and Lyndsay, what an amazing thing they have accomplished!! SB (I drew Gwennie)
