This is my second story about
British Columbia
The Canadian Pacific Train Wreck
which took place in the 1960s
Function Junction
If you follow the train
tracks for about 20 minutes
you will come to the derailed freight cars
As you can see by the photos
we chose to walk in the forest
to reach our destination
to reach our destination
We're on our way
The water is fast moving around and
in between the boulders
This particular area is quite calm
The water is ice blue and very cold
Red hat
Red coat
Red fleece and scarf
Mom and daughter
Where does this river begin?
How did the pile of logs get there?
The sign says..........
TRAIN WRECK
so
we must be getting close
Must be just around the corner
Oh boy
There is the first freight car
I found this to be an eerie feeling
Who would ever think
one would find
box cars in a forest
Let's just check this out
Can you imagine the sound this must have made
when the cars came crashing into the quiet forest
Well, there you go
Someone printed
I AM
to go with
CANADIAN
and
I AM CANADIAN
It doesn't get any better than that!!!!!!!!!!
As you can see
bike trails have been built on top of the cars
The 'train wreck' bike trails are very popular
with the locals as well as tourists
You can even check it out on the internet
In the distance you can see where the 'rider'
would fly through the air on his bike
and end up on the 'boardwalk"
Very artistic and colourful
One of my all time favourite photos
THE LOOK-A-LIKES
Such a nice smile
The Mom and Dad
We're now working our way
back to the main road
There were so many different rock formations
and gushing water
This was a good walk
It was good to be outdoors
It was good to spend time with
the daughter
LIFE IS GOOD
Oh my daughters would love to photograph those.
ReplyDeleteLisa (Your daughter's friend) recomended your blog to me as we are fellow Canadian's :)

ReplyDeleteIncredible !! This happened in the 60's.....I wonder why it wasn't cleaned up ? As in the box cars taken away...Leave it to others though to be creative with what's left :o)
ReplyDeleteDianne,

What lovely photos and what a great way to spend a day.
ReplyDeleteI remember the song, Canadian Pacific, from my early years. It was all I knew about Canada back then!!!! Your story reminded me of the song.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Carole
I really enjoy the way you tell your story and the pictures are great. It really doesn't get better than spending an adventurous day in amazing surroundings with your loved ones.
