BACK ON THE ISLAND.........
Before we left Windsor we went out to have a little visit with Mugan as Joe did not make it home in time for Casey's funeral
Mugan asked if we would like some flowers from the funeral home
We took a tulip.....for Holland
Casey's birthplace
We also took a few other lovely flowers
We told Mugan we would put them in the river as a remembrance to Casey
Two years ago upon our arrival at the island
Casey and Mugan brought us a truck full of wood for our fireplace
We met them at Pier 90
We all helped get the wood out of the truck then Joe and Casey loaded up our little aluminum boat
Once the wood was in the boat there was only room for the men
The ladies had to take the ferry
Unbeknownst to us Casey was terrified of the water
BUT
He got in the boat and away they went!!!
It's one thing to get in a boat
It is another thing to get in a boat full of wood
and
really no place to sit!!!!!!
We salute you Casey
We took what we thought was necessary for the first trip to the cottage
Out of the truck
On to the ferry
Off the ferry
On to the cart
Through the woods
Curtis and Christine opened the cottage for us
Even put the Canadian flag up to welcome us!
First thousand footer to greet us
Bing has settled right in
So has Gwennie!!
Curtis and Joe bringing over another load
You would be amazed as to what we can get in the boat!!!!!!!!!
We've had some lovely sunsets
One morning I was up around 7 a.m.
It was quite warm that day
I found the clouds to be odd
Odd in the way
I had never seen pink clouds down river early in the morning
It was eerie
We're had some pretty interesting skies as well
and
winds out of the north which make it
COLD
here on the island
Joe has built himself a vegetable garden
This guy sure was making a lot of noice out at the end of the dock
He was honking honking honking
(I see there is a bond on his leg)
She was looking his way but that was as far as it went
I guess he could honk as long as he wanted but she ignored him
I took this shot for our children
The Elder family are putting in a dock
It seems strange to us to look down river
and see a dock
Next blog will feature nature on the island
Is it possible that "our" Gwennie gets cuter looking all the time ?? That picture of her sleeping is absolutely adorable :) There's so much work involved in returning or leaving the island. Whew !! I look forward to the nature shots and pictorial ! What a wonderful tribute to Casey. Sorry again for the loss. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day Dianne. Glad to see you have settled in the cottage. That looks like a lot of work moving in each spring. I will no longer complain about unloading the van. he he he
ReplyDeleteNice to see the cottage again and to hear about Christine and Curtis. DB :)
ReplyDeleteI'm changing my screen saver to the sunset picture! Looking forward to the next blog :-)
