THE AAMJIWNAANG NATION 51ST. ANNUAL POW WOW

What a day

Joe and I attended a Pow Wow which took place just outside the town of Corunna

Our great nephew and great niece were attending their first Pow Wow as dancers

The Colour Guard

The eldery and young joined in

Our niece

Waiting his turn

The moccasins were completely beaded

Different headdresses

This headdress was more like what I would see on a biker

It was very hot and sunny
I thought she must be terribly warm

The jingle dance

Swish Swish

Our great nephew dancing

Mother and son

Beautiful regalia

This was a neat headdress
A few feathers in his cap

Our great niece

Swish again

Mother and daughter

This little girl was upset
She had her hands over her face
however
she could look through her fingers
It was sweet to watch her

The family danced for the first time at their
Pow Wow

It was an amazing afternoon
We were so very proud of all of them

IT WAS A GRAND DAY

  1. Wow the colours are amazing !! We did an International Women's Day event couple years back and our focus was native women. They came and danced in full costume as well it was very memorable ! Such pride :) as it should be ! Did you feast on the Indian tacos ? Yum Yum

  2. Lovely photos. So very colourful. I can't imagine dancing in those outfits in this heat.

  3. Wonderful to see a new post from you Dianne. I have missed your photos and 'stories'! I have not been to a pow-wow since 1969! You have shown the beautiful artistry and pageantry of the First People. Awesome photos.
