JUNE 30TH THRU TO AUGUST 7TH

I'm not sure where time goes
I'm not sure why I haven't been doing blogs
BUT
Hopefully this is a new beginning
WHERE
I will get into a blog routine once again

June 30th

The boy came down to Michigan to the
Port Huron Fighting Falcons Jr. A hockey camp
For three days we travelled across the St. Clair River by ferry
Would catch the ferry at Sombra ON
cross the river to Marine City MI
then drive to the ice rink in Mount Clemens MI

Beau was on the Red team

Sunday morning
We had the ferry to ourselves!

Beau made it to the All Star game which would be played Sunday

Drying out
Ah............the sweet smell of hockey equipment

All Star Game
Off to hospital he went with his Papa Tom and Grandma Elaine
14 stitches to close the wound caused by a skate blade

After the game Joe and I stayed to wait for the list to be posted of the players who would be going to the main camp in August
This was a heart wrenching time for players and parents
and
'grandparents'
There were 67 players
Beau was one of 14 players who were invited to the main camp which would take place August 3rd in Mount Clemens

July 2nd

Here come the girls
We picked Zoe and her friend Katy up at the Detroit airport
Back on the ferry once again!

July 7th

We're up there somewhere

Grandma Elaine Aunt Carrie and son Thomas
Zoe and Katie all in one car
Papa Joe Granny and Beau in the truck
We headed to Toronto to Wonderland Amusement Park
Beau needed a partner for the rides
Granny stepped up the plate!
We saved the best till last
LEVIATHAN
Ha......My arms were not in the air
I was hanging on!!!!
A fun day for everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

How they have grown!!!

Papa Tom and Grandma Elaine joined us for dinner

Check out the steak!

The girls were absolutely delightful

Grandparents are soooo blessed

Life is good at the cottage

Katie in her Stag Island sweatshirt

July 11th

Beau was off to Chicago for a Topeka Kansas hockey camp
He along with 250 boys were trying out for the team
Beau worked hard and made the team

Spotted this part of a plane on the 401
Heading Toronto way

July 17th
the girls go home

Curtis and Christine arrive for a week at the cottage
Curtis and our neighbour Ray out fishing at 7 in the morning

Lovely butterfly near the pond

Neighbourhood dogs and children gather at the beach
Of course Gwendolyn was right in the middle of it all

O CANADA

The Niagara
Replica of a ship from the war of 1812

July 28th

Sun going down on Lake Ontario

July 30th

The girls came for lunch at the island
Joe was our chef
He did a magnificent job

We celebrated Georgette's birthday

August 3rd

It is nice to have choices
The boy was back in town
Beau was in Mount Clemens once again
this time he was attending the main camp
for
The Port Huron Fighting Falcons
Junior A Hockey Team
We were back and forth on the ferry
for three days
Beau made the All Star game which took place on Sunday
Then..............we all waited for the outcome of the exit interviews
BEAU MADE THE TEAM
Much to the excitment of his grandparents
Papa Tom and Grandma Elaine
he will be living in Sarnia with them during the hockey season
going back and forth over the Blue Water Bridge to Port Huron

WELL DONE GRANDSON

August 4th

We decided to celebrate his making the All Star game
Went to East Side Marios for dinner Saturday evening
Upon coming outdoors we could see a storm approaching
Joe and I beetle barreled it to Corunna
Hopped in the boat with thunder surrounding us
Joe gunned the motor and we were on our way
Got around the tip of the island when.........
All of a sudden the wind took over
I had my back to the south so could not see what was coming
White caps
Rain
Wind
Thunder
Lightning
The wind was sooooooo strong that the boat litterly stopped in the river
Joe yelled
We have to get to shore
Get to the front of the boat
We inched our way through the wind
Made it close enough to shore where we could jump
out of the boat and pull it in
HOWEVER
we quickly found out that dredging had been done
and we were in water over our heads
Hanging on to the boat we treaded water and pushed the boat
Ha.............we made it to shore
Joe secured the boat and I
ran to a cottage and there we waited out the storm
Let me tell you...............
That was another experience of living on the St. Clair River!

We pulled the boat up to the breakwall

The boat is back home safe and sound

August 6th

The phone rang
Hello I said
Is this the O'Rourkes
Yes I said
I want to know what your garbage is doing on my property
Pardon I said
He repeated the question?????????
Back and forth went the conversation
I passed the phone over to my husband!

After talking about it a bit we decided Joe should check out the trailer parked at Pier 90
Not only were things taken out of the trailer
The trailer was missing
Phone calls between Sarnia Police and Corunna OPP took place
Our contents or most of them were thrown in a ditch
Other things were gone!
Joe retrieved the 'ditch' items Monday evening
Tuesday morning we received a call that the trailer had been found
Police seemed to think 'they' were looking for copper wire
Whoever stole the trailer broke into this place as well

NEVER A DULL MOMENT

This week we have dealt with a lot of rain
The sun was out this morning
Rain this afternoon

I tried to get Gwendolyn to look at the camera
No way!!!!!

Ah..........I have finished this blog
On to the next!
The story of Angus

OMG reading this blog was like riding a roller coaster Leviathan style ! The ups and downs, successes and defeats, near tragedies.....I'm grateful that you all made it to shore and the wee boat survived. The theft is heart breaking for sure. I really loved the picture of Bo and his sister, the then and now. Incredible ! That's a very touching picture on so many levels. I bet you thought I was going to say Gwennie's photo huh ? Well it's right up there !! Next time you want her to face the camera....mention my name....lol. Happy Birthday Georgette (( HUGS ))

  4. WONDERFUL review mom! Loved all the pictures, its just like opening a photo album but with all of the dialogue as well...good job! I had to laugh though which sounds horrible, when you said you jumped into water that you thought would be shallow but was above your head...that must've been a surprise!!! SB
