LAST DAY AT CANYON VISTAS THEN HEADING TO CANADA

As you know from the last blog we are going home to Canada
The past week has been very busy

I woke up early early
My mind was working overtime with things that had to be done
A beautiful view of the desert at 6:30

Mardi Gras at the park!

Sue and Donna Mae stayed with us for a week then they headed to Scottsdale to visit with Peggy and Tony
Friends of Donna Mae
Since we were heading home early we
decided to rent our unit for the month of March
HA
I called Sue to see if she would come back to the park and help me get the unit ready
Sue was my right hand lady
We nicknamed her
THE CLEANING LADY
Sue was the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She borrowed one of Joe's ol' hiking shirts and went to town
She is taking a break with her best friends!!!!

The truck is packed
Everyone has their own spot

We headed out Thursday morning

Since Jennifer and I are proud owners of Beetles
I thought this was a good photo to capture

This gentleman was sitting in a booth at MacDonald's in Show Low
As I was sitting waiting for Joe I thought
What a great photo that would be
Could I get up enough nerve to ask if I could take his picture?
YUP
I said
Excuse me sir but would you mind if I took your photo?
He looked at me like I had rocks in my head but said
OK
How clever to open an umbrella to shade the sun while he worked on his computer

When we travelled this road some years ago I would always shed a tear knowing I would not see my Arizona family for some time
This was no exception

The windmill was spinning in the wind

These building were all side by side
Must have been a very tiny village way back when

Pee break

A Texas dog in Oklahoma

The earth and water are the same colour

Missouri River

Good Morning Sun

We should have updated our GPS
Three times we ended up somewhere where we did not want to be
Downtown St. Louis

The GPS was re-calculating
Through the neighbourhoods we went
This must have been a home at one time?????
It  was situated on a corner
Cement surrounded it

Coming into Detroit
Joe's favourite singer

Ah..............
Over the bridge we go to Windsor Ontario
Back to Canada

Driving along the 401 just outside Chatham
Back 20 years ago Susie was found near the 401
We rescued her from the Humane Society
Here she was once again travelling the same road!

We were very fortunate to have good weather throughout our four day trip

Ha Ha
Made from Canada!!

We have arrived at our destination
at
Stephanie and Michael's home
at
Port Dalhousie situated on Lake Ontario
Way way over there you can see the CN tower downtown Toronto

Canada geese venturing on the lawn

Gwendolyn making a snow angel

Grandma Stephanie and grandson making a snow angel

Playtime

Peaceful

Grandma and six week old granddaughter
Pretty in pink!!

So..................we are settling in

  1. Where to start ? Welcome back home...although it's a tad bittersweet. Your photos of Arizona as you left and the deserted old homesteads are magnificent. Oh the stories they could tell. The pets look wonderful especially Gwennie in her winter coat. CUTE :) The children are adorable !! Such a sweet baby girl ! Much love & hugs, please share with Gwennie....whom I'll be seeing soon :)

  3. So glad you arrived home safely and I'm sure that you're enjoying the lake house. I love the photos of the Mardi Gras parade. Those folks are very creative.

  4. Oh, Dianne .... what can I say .... my heart is filled with every emotion possible reading your blog tonight. From sadness knowing you left Arizona, to tears when I saw your comments when taking the photo of entering New Mexico, to giggles out loud when I saw Gwennie making her doggy snow angel .... and now prayers that Joe's medical issue will soon be a success story and you can continue enjoying your life as you deserve to. Love you, pretty lady!

    Hugs,
    Marge
