LIFE IS GOOD
It has been quite the weekend
here on the island
Yesterday we had
50 - 60 k winds
mixed with rain
and
this morning was just plain cold
This afternoon warmed up quite nicely
It was a perfect time for a walk
across the island
to the east side
across the island
to the east side
We started out down the path......
We stopped as we heard dogs barking
That's strange, no dogs around here
Oh MY
What do we have here????
There were 3 baby foxes playing on a porch
We were told yesterday that there was a
fox den about 5 cottages up
Yep, they were right!
We also saw deer tracks and have also
been told there are coyotes and
pups in our neighbourhood
We were surprised to see these
tent caterpillars
Thought they only came in the summer
I need my 'gardener' daughter or
'gardener' friend to tell me
what plant this is????
There were large clumps of the plant
in and around the forest area
HEY
I found a dirty, filthy puddle
Look at this rocking chair
How many years ago was it made?
When I first looked at it
I thought
I bet a Grandma sat in it first!
What is your first thought?
Sure sign of spring when you see
a lilac tree
Muddy, muddy, muddy
Just went through another puddle
Bath time coming up!
A child's playhouse
tucked in the forest area
This shed has been around for a long time
Plants are growing on the roof
Seedlings must have fallen and
they took off!!!
Love the vine wreath
A Morel mushroom
When I looked at this garage
I thought I was tipsy turvy
At one point in time there were many canals
on the island
This is the only one that has not filled in with reeds
In days gone by you would have taken
this canal to Breezy Point
My parents had a cottage across
the river from the island
We would all pile in the boat
cross the river
go under the foot bridge
and
head to Breezy Point
The Tern bird was flying all over the place
It just dive bombed into the water
to pick up a fish
In 1944 the cottage
lovingly referred to as the
SHACK
was built on a lot at the end of Tom St.
The shack
which was built by my
Father and Grandfather
was later moved to 601 St. Clair Parkway
After my Father died
the shack was sold
The new owners tore it down
built a new home at
the top of the hill
but
left the fireplace standing
It was hard to drive by in
the boat and see
the fireplace
standing all alone
It brought back memories
of backing up to the fire
to warm my backside!!
I can only imagine how beautiful
this trellas is in the summer
Pretty pink flowers by the breakwall
Hello Mr. Tree
Nice smile
Great combination of colours
and chairs
What a cozy, comfy porch
This is the Hadfield cottage
Childhood summer home of our
Canadian Astronaut
Chris Hadfield
An Elf garden
Looking through a window
The chess set is waiting
to be played
Lily of the Valley
My favourite spring flower
Interesting salty
Anybody know the cargo?
Coming around the curve
Gwendolyn stopped and sniffed about
We discovered this live trap
What animal is someone trying to catch?
Back home after our walk
The redbud tree is out in full bloom
The tree was given to us by
our friends
In memory of Joe's Mom
Our wish for family and friends
