DEPARTURE TIME

This blog has been in the making for a few weeks now
Here is March 21st
We left Arizona the 2nd of March

Getting Miss Gypsy ready for her road trip to California

Leaving our favourite spot that looks out on to the desert

Our crazy little Mexican bathroom in the Casita room

Don't you just love the floor cloth Jennifer made
It's Gwennie and Elliot

The Arizona house is spic and span
We have a renter coming in for the next 6 weeks

We spent a few days at Stephanie's before
 heading out

Finnegan's first road trip
He just settled right in!

Coming into LA
The GPS was keeping us on track
'She' kept saying stay left stay left
All of a sudden 'she' said
Go right
YIKES
We both screamed!!!!!!!
Joe had to get over 6 lanes of traffic
ZOOM ZOOM
He did it!!!!
Must say California drivers are very good at letting vehicles in

We stayed at Balboa RV park in Van Nuys Ca
It was about 35 minutes from the Reagan Library
Most interesting campsite
The park was beside a movie studio
The owner of the park had many stories for us

Miss Gypsy being moved to an overnight spot
Joe unhitched her and they took over
NICE!

Replica of the President Reagan's Oval Office

We spent four hours at the library
It was sooooo interesting

What a magnificent sight
Air Force One

The saddle on the left was given to President Reagan by Queen Elizabeth

Part of the Berlin Wall

The grounds were beautiful
Had to take this photo of the yellow roses
My Mother's favourite flower

There is a white cross at the top of the hill

Here we are back at the RV park
Can you see the picture in the tree?
They say it is a picture of Jesus
Apparently many people come by to see it

You can see where an artist drew a picture on the cement wall
I had quite a nice talk with her

She was working on Lucy
She walked around the park with me showing me her work

A really old air stream was sitting in the back corner

While driving to Templeton we saw where RV's were parked along the side of the road by the ocean
It appears you just pull in and pay into a money machine
Sounds like a great place to try in the future

We're back!!!!
We visited with Marge and Rod back in December on our way to Arizona
This trip we are going to do some touring with Marge and Rod

The Hearst Castle

In the main dining room
Mr. Hearst always had to have ketchup and mustard on the table

The swimming pool ladder was made of marble!

What a pool

You can see the castle way up in the distance
I don't think you can read my ball cap but is says
Fisher Girl!!

Next we went to see the elephant seals
Could have stayed for hours
So entertaining

Lunch at San Simeon
Took this picture for Beau since his middle name is Sebastian

The little store had a post office
A wine tasting area
and
An area where we sat at picnic tables for lunch
Here at the post office Papa is mailing a post card to Garen

On our way down the highway we came across zebras that belong to the Hearst Castle
Generations of zebras graze the land
This guy was scratching his butt on a wooden post

I think this is Pismo Beach
I should have Marge with me while doing the blog!!!!!!
In the distance you can see snow on the mountain while these little boys play in the water???
I would think the water must have been quite cold

Marge and I crept up to this heron
We stayed with him for a time

Ha...........this little guy came right up to me
sorry bud, no food for you!

Whoa
Right into the trash bin he went

Rod and Marge took us to an area where we could see the monarch butterflies
Marge said this was nothing compared to how many there were a few weeks or so ago

A walk out on the pier

Let us out
Let us out
We 'parked' Miss Gypsy in Rod and Marge's driveway
The perfect place

Such a gracious couple

Day 2
Villa San-Juliette Vineyard

Marge scanning the property for another great photo op
Can't tell you how much fun it was to tag along with Marge and her camera
Two girlfriends with their cameras made for a fantastic time!

Normally I am looking through the lens

A cement wine tank

Tobin James Winery

Most of the wineries we went to had pizza/bread ovens outside

Neat wine barrel idea

Doing a tasting!

Eberle Winery
Joe thought he and Ray should build one of these in between their cottages

More ideas

The wine caves
I thought it was kind of creepy

Sculpterra Winery

So beautiful........
Flowering trees along the side of their property

Last vineyard of the day
I'm pretty sure the wine tasting room was once the main home of the winery
Most of the vineyards had dogs or cats
wandering around

The 'man' of the day
Rod did all the driving
Good job Rod

7 am
We're ready to aim our truck towards Canada
Joe gave Marge one of his candle stick holders

Picture for Kelsey
An
IN'OUT

Funny but not ha ha funny
Finnegan chose to ride in between Joe and I
Just like Tulip did

Moses Lake area
We know we are getting close to Canada

YES

We followed the Osoyoos hockey bus to Penticton
Once upon a time Beau played for Osoyoos

Here we are
The best winery of all!!!!
TIGHTROPE

Garen meeting Finnegan for the first time

Jennifer came up from Squamish for a few days
It was great having her and her dogs and cats!

Working on the pool/water reservoir
The reservoir was required for the winery
so
The kids got a pool!

Joe finding a good spot for Miss Gypsy to sit for the next few months
Come June she will take us to Ontario

*********************
Tomorrow is a special day

  3. Glad you are home safe & sound. Those pictures sure brought back lots of memories for Bill & me. Our many travels to California, we saw many of these wonderful sights. Two years ago we went with Bill's brother & wife to The Regan library. We have just returned from their place. We went to see them for a few days since they will be moving to Oregon to be near their two daughters. Have a great visit with your family & keep in touch. The blog was great.

    Thanks Janet
