We had a super Canada Day weekend
Saturday it was 97 degrees
Whew was it hot or what
We were saved here on the island
with a beautiful breeze
We did however have quite the storm Saturday evening
High winds
Hail
Rain
We had it all!!!!!!
I'll start with
Friday
I'll start with
Friday
This photo was taken from the Bluewater Bridge
showing the St. Clair River and the mouth of Lake Huron
Looking down from the bridge you can see this
pretty garden which takes up the entire front lawn of the house You can even see a 'manikin' looking out the front porch window!!
While we were edging our way towards the customs booth I noticed
the bike in Joe's side mirror
These big yachts just keep comin up the river
Who's on board??????
There were at least 7 swans flying low
It looks like the tip of the swan's wing hit the water
I did it
I did it
Water temp 64 degrees
I headed to the ladder very quickly!
Must say
The water was refreshing
and
the air was pleasently warm
That was for you Curtis!
HAPPY CANADA DAY
Still working on the chairs
Have painted 4 out of 6
Two coats of paint
but they need one more
SHOOT
Friday evening the 4 cottage men decided they were going
to try and move a huge tree limb that has been stuck on a sand bar
We have Ray Eric and Eric's friend
in one boat
Joe's in the red boat
Bruce is on the jet ski
They all have ropes attached to the tree limb
oh oh
Joe is in the water
The red boat is overturned
The motor is under water
With the boat in tow
Joe is heading to shore
Taking turns bailing out the boat
Gwennie is right in there
Guess the limb will stay where it is!!
Saturday
We were having a grand dinner outside with our friends
Ken and Devonna
and
Bill and Janet
Joe commented that he could see
the storm coming down river
All six of us went into action
Potted plants were taken off the deck
Chairs covered
and
dinner and dishes brought into the cottage
Here's Janet giving a hand!
Within seconds
the wind was up
we had white caps
and the clouds moved in
Bill and I were standing outside
watching the clouds
He didn't like the look of the
LOW CLOUDS
He told me he has been
through 2 tornados!
YIKES
Soon we would be pounded with hail as well
We thought we might have 4 overnight guests
as the ferry was closed down for a time
due to lightening
Then
the sun came out!
The sky took on a greenish yellow colour
Not good
The colour changed again
Sunday morning
Our next door neighbour Ray called me over to see
the resident snake who lives out by the dock
Wonder if it is the same snake that Beau an Zoe
named
'No feet'
Side kick 'Stanley' was not far away
It was a great Canadian weekend
Happy July 4th to our American friends
O.K. I think the "manikin" is creepy !! On such a hot day as last Saturday that dip in the river would of felt refreshing indeed. Awh Gwennie a trusty sidekick keeping her eye on you and Joe. I'm with the majority leave the fallen tree in the water.....it's not worth anyone getting injured in attemps to move it. I too thought the sky colour was suspect when it was greenie/yellow and then the orange ? ! It was quite the show from Mother Nature ! Great pictures Dianne :o)
ReplyDeleteWe still had a great time even though the storm came up. I must say, we were happy to be back on the main land. Janet
ReplyDeleteLoved the story, beautiful pictures, enjoyed the blog, and yes that storm was crazy, we lost hydro for 3 hours, tree down on Lakeshore Rd. Oh my we were blessed it could have been much, much, more.
