Monday left us with a stunning evening sky
Tuesday morning left me with a big
smile on my face
as I looked at Bing stretched out
having a simply wondrous sleep
We're on the road again
A helmet........good for him
What a super colour for a bike
This is Taliesin West
Frank Lloyd Wright fell in love with
the Arizona desert
and in 1937 opened a winter camp
that served as his
office and school
Today Taliesin West is the headquarters of the
Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and School
of Architecture
The area to the left ...... the school
Area to the right...... the living quarters
The dragon sculpture was given
to Mrs Wright by a student
It spews fire
A few of the bronze statues that are on site
This is the end of the tour
There are many sculptures in the area
COUSINS
Our nephew BJ was in Phoenix for a few days
BJ is the son of Joe's
second eldest sister Marion
We all spent the afternoon and evening together
On the road again.......
In 1947 Italian architect Paolo Soleri
came to study at Taliesin West
Nine years later he set up the
Cosanti Foundation in Scottsdale
Today the Cosanti site consists of
simple, low structures housing
studios, a gallery
and craft workshops
This is where Soleri and his workers
make and sell their trakemark windbells
The 'cousins' walking to the
Macaroni Grill for dinner
Highly recommended I must say
What a pleasant way to end
the evening
Joe and I so enjoyed
time with our niece and nephew
It was actually a gift to us
ON TO WEDNESDAY......
We took Susan along on our hike
with the Canyon Vistas hiking club
The hikers are wearing their new green hiking t-shirts !!
Susan with her Auntie
What a crazy Saguaro this is
Notice the top of the cactus
Uncle Joe, Susan and our friend Devonna
Another gorgeous day
Two more full days
then
it was Saturday
Time to go to the airport
WHAT A WEEK
WE SURE HAD A GOOD TIME!
What can I say........
LOVERLY
