MONDAY WITH SUSAN

We have been on the go...........
Trying to cram as much as we can into this week

SO FAR SO GOOD!

Monday was President's Day
Highway 60 was busy
with many many cars
heading to the
Renaissance Fair

We thought it might be a good day
to take Susan to the
 Boyce Thompson Arboretum

We weaved in and out of the traffic
and got in the left lane
We were on our way

First we had lunch in Superior
a mining town

We spotted this little Mexican cafe

CAFE PIEDRA ROJA

We drove by
Turned around
Should we go in????

Yeah, we'll give it a try

Colourful rooms
We all agreed
THE FOOD WAS GREAT

WHAT A FIND!!!!!!!

This hotel is still open
Not sure about rooms
but the door to the bar was open

Wonder what it was like in it's day???

Next we found this coffee house

A cute little place
full of ambiance

Didn't I say it was cute!!!!!!!!

We're going to come back one day for lunch

On to the Arboretum

Following the 'brown gravel road'

A Boojum tree

The home of Boyce Thompson

Here's Susan
I see the camera lady's reflection
 in her sunglasses

Susan and her Uncle Joe
Joe is from a family of eight children
Susan's Mom was the eldest of the children

She was in her glory
being surrounded by such beauty

We were coming up to a curve
in the path
I could not believe what I saw
A 'lady' was sitting in a tree
in a 'fashion model pose'
To me she didn't look real
Her skin was a creamy wax colour
At first I was not sure if she was real???

Here is the photographer at work
I wished I had taken a photo of what I first saw
I went back and asked the photographer if
I could take a photo of her at work
She said
Yes

We walked the same path
Many different poses
Many different backdrops

What a view from the bridge

The gum trees
Up up towards the sky

On to Tuesday ............

  1. Cute interesting shops in Superior. You always find the coolest places.

Actually, my comment is about the day you saw the red headed, red breasted bird at your feeder...a house finch. They have been stopping by my feeder all winter and we have them back in SD. Maybe the same birds and they just follow us south??? ha ha

  3. Such neat out of the way places. I love finds like that and usually the food is excellent and made fresh and from scratch. The pictures of the flora is magnificent. Imagine coming up on a photo shoot as well !! I wonder what it was for ?
