INTERESTING SKIES...A CAT NAMED TULIP...RAISING A FLAG POLE

Ray bringing over his 40 foot flag pole from home
I wish I had been out there when he was coming up river in his little 16 foot boat

Remembering my Mom on Mother's Day
It is hard to believe she has not been with us for 14 years

I made myself a lemon pie for Mother's Day
Since our children were not here I decided to spoil myself
My Mom taught me how to make a pie just before I was married

Slipping through the fog

Spotted a few deer on a walk around the island

Joe and I went to the Humane Society to check out  cats
We spent an hour in the 'cat room'
There were 3 cats that I had the lady take out of their cage
In and out
In and out
It was so hard to make a decision
There was Clara
There was Morgan
There was Tulip
Tulip purred and purred and purred
She really wanted to be out of her cage
Finally we decided..........
TULIP

Only one more day and Tulip will join the gang

Ohhhh....the clouds were rolling in

WELL................
The day Tulip was to have her last check-up was not the best day for us or for her
The Vet brought a 'new' Technician with her
The Technician was holding Tulip too tight
Tulip did not like that and scratched the Technician
Tulip had to stay at the Humane Society for
TEN DAYS
IN QUARANTINE
I went to visit Tulip

The fishermen have arrived

A couple enjoying themselves on the River Snye

My first visit to the pond
Looks like this fellow is having lunch

Off to Windsor
Many different cloud formations during our drive

See the Sea Horse????

See the gorilla????

Dinner at Sue's
Sue gave the girls a plant called
Asplenium Crispy Waves............. good for your health and for a better indoor climate
THANKS SUE
(I see tonight that there are a few bites out of the plant)
Not good
Tulip????????

Stopped by the pond on our way home from Windsor

Oh boy
This is exciting
The flag pole is going to be raised

'Dig' the haircut!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if this is a Toronto hair style?

Joe trying to get an extra rope off the pole

Our flag pole looks really really small ha ha
Flying the British Columbia flag

I was talking to Rod on the phone when this one went by
Had to drop the phone and grab the camera

We have had the craziest weather
It has rained and rained and rained
It has also been
CHILLY
As I type this we are now having beautiful warm breezy weather
YEAH

The big day has arrived
Ten days are up!!!!!!
We kept telling Gwennie and Bing about Tulip
I don't think they care
ha ha ha

My Mother's chair

I was down to Chatham on Monday
Stopped on my way down and back

I found this bird to be very interesting
It was fluttering over the water
I had to take a second look as I first thought there were 2 birds
but it is a reflection

Stretching

Ah...................
There it is
My favourite freighter
This is the first I have seen the Roger Blough this season
****************
I am off to Chatham again tomorrow
Wonder what will be waiting for me at the pond
Sounds silly but I get excited when approaching the pond

CARRYING ON AFTER APRIL 15TH

We were 43 days in the airstream
Now it is time to leave Our Ponderosa Park at Kettle Point
Since the island is still not open we are heading to Gales Ferry Connecticut for 10 days

Our time was up on
April 15th
However
We stayed one more day to avoid any snow issues on the highways
It was a long day as you know what it's like  when you know it is time to go!!

We took the airstream back to the Corunna area
Our island neighbours have a home near Mooretown so we dropped Miss Gypsy off at their place
Went as far as Utica New York
Would have a short drive (for us) the next day

Came across a
 HOOTERS
It reminded me of a funny story about our granddaughter
Zoe
She accompanied her parents to the restaurant once when she was a young young girl
She asked her Mom
Why are the girls dressed like that?
OH SHE SAID
When I grow up I am going to work at
HOOTERS!!

I don't think so Zoe!!!!!!!!

Next we passed a
FIVE GUYS
Hamburger joint
Our grandson Beau introduced us to it when we were in Arizona
We would go between
FIVE GUYS
and
In-N-Out Burger
until we found out that Beau's girlfriend Kelsey works for
In-N-Out
We try to be faithful to her!

Lots of stories
Basketball Hall of Fame
Springfield Mass
Graham toured the building as a boy with his teammates from Gregory Hogan School
He put his wallet down for one second
and
It was gone
His teacher Mr. Sharpe lent him money for the remainder of the trip
Thanks Mr. Sharpe

This Canada Goose had an issue with a wing
Hopefully it is ok

Interesting place for a birdhouse
I think they are for wood ducks

Connecticut is known for stone fences

David took Joe and I out to Thames Conservation Property for a walk

This explains the hundreds of daffodils

Mystic Sea Port

CHARLES W MORGAN
Repairs have been made to the whaling ship
She is the last of an American whaling fleet
 First launched in 1841
This will be her 38th voyage starting out May 17th of this year

Back of the Schroeder home
Our family loves this home!!!!
We have been coming here for years and years!

We drove Alice and David to Providence Long Island
Dropped them off at a bus station
Bus to take them to Logan International Airport in Boston
They were off to Germany for a two week visit with their daughter Elizabeth and family
Drove by a cemetery coming back from the station
This area was filled with tiny American flags

Ha.....funny picture of Davey's cat

Flowers coming out in Alice's Japanese garden
Spring is here!

Bing wanting so much to go outside
He has to wait for the island!

One of my most favourite living rooms

Sunday April 27th
We arrived on the island

The US Coast Guard has arrived to put the buoy back in the river

Out comes the 'winter' buoy

There she is
Number 58
Light is flashing

Deer at the back of the cottage

Oh brother!!!!
These two sailors are bundled up against the wind and rain
It was soooo cold the day I took this photo

Curt and Christina came up for the weekend
Chris' dog Molly was right by her side all the time
Gwennie trying to get in on some of the snuggling!

My first trip to the pond

Susie Wong
1993 - 2014

Curtis with Susie
Joe with WeiQuay
Dianne with Beau
Susie was a rescue cat from Chatham
Humane Society thought she was a year old when she arrived at the shelter
Beau was born in 1994
so
She was at least 21 years old when she died

We arrived at the cottage on Sunday April 27th
Susie died that afternoon by falling into the river
A very sad day

Susie outlived two cats
WeiQuay
and
Elliot
She traveled about 20,000 km a year
for at least 8 years living in two provinces and one state each year

First of all WeiQuay slept in the crook of Joe's arm and would not let Susie in
When WeiQuay left us Susie moved in and would not let any other cat in!

She was a good cat
