A WHOLE NEW EXPERIENCE......STATE OF CALIFORNIA

We were very excited in anticipation as to what California would be like
Let me tell you...…
We were not disappointed

As we left Oregon and got into California we certainly noticed the skies were 'smoky grey' and the quality of air was not good
We also knew it was going to get worse before it got better

We had an overnight at Marge and Rod's home in Templeton
Marge and I met at Canyon Vistas RV park
'way back when'
She was my creative writing teacher
Friends forever, that's what I say

Marge's husband Rod is a funny funny man!

Paradise By The Sea...……
That is the name of our RV Park
Couldn't have a better name
We were minutes from the beach

The Browning men

Miss Zoe loving life

We packed a picnic lunch and headed to the beach
Lots of walking along the surf
Lots of walking with our heads down looking for pretty stones and shells

A little dancing on the beach?????

We have quite the collection now

A Granny
A Mom
A Daughter

Someone else had a birthday
Zoe added Pappa's name

HAPPY 78TH BIRTHDAY TO JOE
Two birthdays were celebrated...
Joe and Kelsey

The new look!!!!!!!!
Check out the sunglasses....gift from the Brownings

Joe was asked what he would like to do on his birthday
Go to San Diego to an Italian restaurant
One that he had been to once before
So...….

We caught a train from Carlsbad to San Diego

Checking out the surf as we chugged along

These three tried out the 'newest' trend

We found the restaurant
Strangest thing
Small convenient store in front
Follow the main isle past the cash register
and
Whoa
Rooms and rooms of people sitting at tables eating Italian food and pizza
We had an early dinner as we had to catch the 7:10 train for Oceanside
When we came out of the restaurant the line was all the way down the main isle out the door and around the corner
Oh boy we were lucky!!!
As we walked toward the train station we stopped at an ice cream shop
Once again we were in luck
Not too much of a line up but by the time we came out people were lined up in the store out the door and down the street

We travelled the Coastal Highway each day when we went to Stephanie and Rod's home
Always busy with people walking dogs
Always busy with bike riders
Always  busy with people jogging or pleasantly walking along the side of the road

We all know Jennifer is a 'gardener" so this was a must on her list of things to do
The San Diego Botanic Gardens

We saw a sign that said the walk from Oceanside Beach to the pier was one mile
We walked as much as we could along the beach
however
The tide was coming in
We climbed up some rocks and walked along the side of the road
By the time we returned to Oceanside we all agreed it was longer than a two mile hike
More like three miles
Of course we didn't have the proper shoes for this type of a walk
Must say there was many a sore foot that evening
But
Well worth the walk

Pelicans on the pier were fearless

Photo taken from the pier looking down

to be continued...………….

A few days before we left Chatham we enjoyed the Plowing Match in  Pain Court
This was my first plowing match
Fascinating to watch the horses
One gentleman we talked to said....
The horses love to participate

FISHER ANCESTRY

I have been in touch with a 'Fisher' relative
DOROTHY
Dorothy, my friend Peggy and I took a ride in the countryside
Dorothy was at the wheel (93 years old)
She took us to the AGAR laneway where my Great Grandmother Sarah Agar 's
family farm was so many years ago
She took us to the farm where my Grandfather Jack Fisher grew up
She took us to the original farm land of
 JOHN FISHER
She took us to the Arnold Cemetery where there are many Fisher and Agar headstones
What a wonderful day!

on the road

We are heading west

Always on the look out for horse photos for Devonna

I heard Joe say...….
Look up look up
By the time I looked up the plane had passed the moon

Time for a drink at the local watering hole
