IT'S TIME........

October is right around the corner

Time to head west!

The deer were walking around our backyard

And
Along the path

A week ago Monday our boat motor was stolen
RIGHT OUT AT THE END OF OUR DOCK
THE NERVE OF SOME PEOPLE

Since then we have had to depend on the golf cart and ferry
to take things over to the mainland
in preparation for our trip west

Curt came over to the cottage to help us get the boat out of the water

Gwendolyn was in for one last swim!

Two O'Rourke men on the ferry

Putting the tires back on the trailer
(Joe had taken them off so that the trailer would not be
stolen again from Pier 90)

We've had a few cold mornings
The guys sure know how to keep warm

Now that fall is here the sun is setting further down river

Love the golden colour

And
Pink

Tuesday I went to Chatham to get my hair cut
I stopped by the pond to see the swans
I wonder if they will be there in the spring?

While in Chatham I had lunch with my cousin Shirley Ann
and husband King

Shirley Ann's Grandmother Jennie and my Grandmother Carrie
were sisters
Jennie being the eldest Carrie the youngest

The family owned and operated
Snell's Bottling Works
Known to me as the
Pop Shop
I can remember as a child going to the Shop where Uncle Norm
would give me a
Lime Ricky Pop
Wow
I would be so excited!!!!!

Way back when......
It was known as Hoon's
where Ginger Beer was made

In the spring Shirley Ann and I are going to get together again
I will then learn more about the
Pop Shop

Yesterday I walked from Ferry Dock Hill to Pier 90
to pick up my car
These fellows caught my eye

Papa Joe and I went over to McMorran Arena where the Port Huron Fighting Falcons play hockey
Beau gave us a tour!

HA
I have picked out my hoodie

The boy and his Grandfather

We had dinner with Grandma Elaine and Papa Tom
Elaine cooked a turkey dinner for us
IT WAS SOOOO GOOD
Beau is staying with his grandparents for the hockey season

WELL
WE'RE OFF.............
WHERE WILL WE BE TOMORROW NIGHT?????

ALMOST THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER

Yesterday we closed down the bunkie

Summer is on the way out

Fall is on the way in

Oh my gosh
Does this girl like to sleep or what!

If I could have a wish
I would wish
for our grandchildren
to be sitting on this bench

Another sleeping beauty

I moved the furniture around as
the girls were coming for
BEST FRIENDS WEEKEND

Joe likes the sofa in front of the TV
(Good for two people)
Dianne likes the sofa in front of the window
(Good for many people)

Shirley's hands

In 1991 Georgette called Sister Shirley and asked if she would give us a retreat
That was the beginning of our friendship with Shirley

Thursday the girls received a phone call telling us that
our friend Sister Shirley had died
Our plans had now changed
We all attended the wake and funeral of Sister Shirley on Saturday in Chatham

Some years ago I put together a scrapbook for Shirley
The sisters gave the book back to me after the funeral
You can be sure we will all look at the book each
BFW

A gift from God

Georgette was in charge of Sunday lunch
As you can see we are missing one of the girls
Janette was unable to be with us due to illness
We missed you Janette!!!!!!!!

For the first time in
Best Friends Weekend history
A man was there!!!!!!!!!
Joe and Gwennie were away for the weekend
visiting Stephanie and Michael
The girls decided to stay an extra day since they were not here Friday
Joe came home.......
He ate Sunday dinner with us
and
Slept in the bunkie with
His wife
His dog
and
His two cats

The girls were very gracious in welcoming him home

We all had a good laugh
as
who would have thought
one of the husbands would be sitting at the table with us!!!!!!!

Paul...Walt...Mike...Casey
would be hooting and hollowering from Heaven!!

WAY TO GO JOE!!!!!!!!!
As Mike would say
Joe......you're a good man

The cats sure loved Georgette's warm body

Guess who is right in there like a dirty shirt????

Back again the next morning!!!!!

When I went for my walk yesterday I took my
camera with me
I was looking for deer

Looking across the river to our friend's home in
the town of Corunna

Hello Albert!

BINGO
There she is!

I think this is Momma

I plan to go for an early walk tomorrow morning

I am going to put the long lens on the camera

WISH ME LUCK

LABOUR DAY WEEKEND ON LAKE HURON AND THE ST. CLAIR RIVER

Our son Curt had friends overnight on the island
so...........
Joe and I had to find a place to go...........

We spent Saturday and Sunday with
Ken and Devonna at their home
on Lake Huron

Devonna and Joe relaxing in the blue rocking chairs

Back and forth
Back and forth

A bike ride then a rest on the beach

They pulled and pulled the cord to get the motor going
Finally!!

The wind came up
Down came the unbrella

A hat
Sunglasses
Bathing suit
 A pail..... sand and water
Perfect!

Oh boy
Oh boy
Oh boy

Ray...... his brother and Curt were out fishing on the river this morning

Two freighters from the same company passing in front of the cottage
The ships saluted

Fall is coming

Gwendolyn and Tucker cooling off!

Looking for stones

You can always count on Gwennie to be right there

Ah...........
LIFE IS GOOD

AND

Take time to smell the flowers

One of our five resident frogs

Too bad I can't take this plant out to Lyndsay

Finally a fish!!!
Caught off the dock this afternoon

This is your lucky day fishy
Swim away
See.....what do I tell you
Gwennie has to be right where the action is!!!!!!!!!

WHAT????????
Another fish

This one wasn't so lucky
It swallowed the worm
It swallowed the hook
Curt could not get it out

There's Joe!!!!!!!!

Curt and I worked on a garden
We emptied the pots and planted the lavender in the ground
Curt also took out the pump for winterizing
We used the pump to get water out of the river to water the gardens

The difference between something being noisy
and

Something being quiet

Joe hung the Bunkie sign

Our Stephanie painted the sign
The boy brought it from Arizona
Good job Steph!

WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND
