WHAT SNOW BIRDS??????

THIS IS THEIR STORY
Canadian Armed Forces Snow Birds
are a 9 plane formation team

Once their manoeuvers are mastered
and the team is comfortable
with the routine
the Snow Birds deploy to
CFB Comox
for special training
After approvals are obtained
an 'acceptance show' is performed at Moose Jaw Saskatchewan
The team goes on to perform shows throughout North America
from May until October

LAST EVENING THEY WERE IN SARNIA

We left the cottage at 4:20 in the afternoon in order to be
at our friend's home
in Bright's Grove
in lots of time to see the
Snow Birds fly
out over Lake Huron

While waiting for the planes
I was intrigued by children
playing in the waters of
LAKE HURON

I could tell from their screams that the water was cold

Ah to be young again!

My son Curtis called me a wimp
the other day when I told him
I had not been in the river yet

Even at my age I don't like
to be called a
WIMP

Maybe I will get up enough nerve
this weekend and get in the river
Will have to show Curt I can do it
After all
tomorrow is the beginning of July

The dog's owner was throwing a stick in the lake
The bigger dog went for the stick
Little guy waited on shore

A good water shake

Here he comes again
with stick in mouth

I was definitely being entertained
while waiting for the
'birds'

This fellow would rather sit with his master

I HEAR THE ROAR OF THE JET ENGINES

Over the lake they go

WE WAITED FOR THEM TO COME BACK INTO SIGHT

The Snow Birds put on a display
at Canatara Park which is on the shore of Lake Huron
We were in Bright's Grove which is about
a 15 to 20 minute drive

SO.................

They were far away!!!

What was I thinking?????

I thought

they would fly back and forth out into the lake

I thought

the planes would fly closer to us while performing their routine

IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Next time maybe we'll go to Canatara

HOWEVER

we had great burgers
and even better company

it really doesn't get any better than that!

I took 150 pictures
many many seagull pictures
thought this one was different
It looks like the bird is suspended in space

Even had a few turkey vultures fly over

The four of us sat around a bonfire and watched the sun go down

Cute eh!!

Sun is down
We're ready to head down river

SUPER GREAT EVENING

TUESDAY JUNE 28TH

I was up at the crack of dawn this morning
thanks to Bing.......
He was in one of his 'racing' modes
He flew up to the bed
He flew over Gwendolyn
He flew over me

I got up to check the time
6:30 a.m.
Once again it was so calm
outside so I decided
to put the coffee on
and enjoy the quiet of the morning

I took my coffee and camera
outside and sat in my rocking chair

Even at that early hour the
 wind was  up

The birds were having their breakfast
under the pine tree
and

At the birdfeeder
and

At the niger seed feeder

Bing came outside with me
He was in my sight at all times!

I went to town later
Did my thing at Curves
then
headed to the grocery store

When I got back on the island
I filled my bike basket
Had a bag on each handle bar
plus a long plain bag of popcorn which I held on to with a few fingers

SLOW BUT SURE I MADE MY WAY FROM THE FERRY
THROUGH THE FOREST
DOWN THE PATH
TO HOME
i even managed to stay on my bike!!

I did a bit of painting
just a bit
Helped Joe move containers from the bunkie
to the new storage shed
Didn't Joe do an outstanding job!!!!!!!!!!!!

I moved the outdoor chairs
from the front
yard to the back yard
Tomorrow I will sand them
 down and get
them ready for painting

RED IS THE COLOUR

Joe was reorganizing his tool shed and box
When one moves from a house with a
BASEMENT
to a cottage as a permanent home
it takes 'skill' to find a place for everything

Mr. Bing wanted to come outside

WIND WIND WIND

Man did the weather ever change
The wind was out of the west

Had to move furniture around
Had to take plants and move them off the deck

Came in the cottage to start dinner
There they were
Can't tell you how much they love their blanket

This evening I looked out the window
There he was
The fisherman is in a
ROW BOAT
He was out in front of the cottage last night too
He comes from the other side of the river
Imagine rowing a boat back home
in the dark!!!!!!!!!

ANOTHER GOOD DAY

FRIDAY NIGHT, SATURDAY NIGHT, MONDAY EVENING

FRIDAY NIGHT
We could hear

BOOM BOOM BOOM

I jumped up and looked out the window
The sky was ablaze with magnificent colours

FIRE WORKS

Don't know the reason?????
July 1st hasn't arrived
July 4th hasn't arrived
However
across the river in Marysville, MI
there was a carnival
The Michiganders were celebrating

When I went outside to take pictures
there was a freighter going by
Wouldn't they have a treat as they came upon
 the festivities!

SATURDAY NIGHT

We walked up to the Foster cottage to sit in on
some

JAMMING

We sang along

Look at this photo
Do you notice something different?
The computer is resting on Holly's legs
Can't be that comfortable
The computer is the 'holder' of the words
to the music

You can see Maggie the dog
She stuck like glue to her master

Bruce and Steve singing away

Chris F did a good job of keeping the fire going

Now this makes more sense

Steve did a great job on the guitar
He was pickin

Chris H knew every song going
Proud to mention
Chris is our Island Canadian Astronaut

Here's Holly
Now she has one sweet beautiful voice

Can't forget Chris
Mr. Tambourine Man

Here they are really getting into this song
I thought I would remember the song
but
nope!

I do remember this one
The're singing
DARLIN..............

Now Joe is on the scene
You can tell by the squinting
that he doesn't have his glasses
Holly came to the rescue
She made the print
BIGGER

They are crooning

Scampi is getting into the act
When Joe heard the song
Halleluiah
He was right there to join in

Scampi and Gwendolyn share the same dog sitter
in the name of
GEORGETTE
Arn't they sooooo lucky!!!!

Mr. Blue eyes and Mrs. Grey are ready for home

GOOD NIGHT ALL

MONDAY EVENING

Such a peaceful look
