SURPRISE SURPRISE

When I got up Monday morning
I looked outside
I could not believe my eyes

What a sight!
Do you see my
Granny angel hanging in the window?
She watches over the cottage

I quicky got dressed
Grabbed my camera
and
out the door I went!!!!

Papa goose was out on the dock
This is a familiar spot for him

Who would have thought
we would see this

When I was coming back up to the cottage
Papa goose was sauntering over
towards the nest
two cottages up the way
I guess I got too close to him!

Last week we sat out in these chairs
all afternoon
visiting with our cottage neighbours

I made sure my friends had food!!!!!!

The fireplace has been going 24-7
For the past 3 nights Joe has stoked
the fire during the night

IT HAS BEEN DANG COLD

Tuesday morning I awoke to the
freighter's fog horn
'tooting'

Wednesday it was
COLD COLD COLD

Thursday it was
COLD BUT SUNNY

What will
Good Friday bring???

IT'S A COLD COLD DAY

Sunday morning we put on our woollies
and headed to the ferry

Before we left the cottage
I could hear some serious
honking
They were on a mission
going somewhere?????

Along the path we  noticed
daffodils
Spring is coming isn't it?????

The ferry dock is getting new spiles
I was surprised at how long
the old wooden spiles were

Lots of zebra mussels on the old logs
They did the trick of cleaning up the river
by making the water clearer
but
they also make the seaweed grow

The new poles have steel
on the inside and plastic
on the outide

When we got out in the middle
of the river
the ferry rolled back and forth
due to the rolling waves
The wind was out of the
south west

Opened the van door
The inside windows were dripping
with condensation due to ....

the firewood we picked up
the day before at Casey and Mugan's home

Not a lot of action on Christina Street
Way up the street you can see
a steeple
That is St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church
where my brother
and I were baptized

We've reached our destination
THE CROMWELL GRILL
We're meeting our friends here
for breakfast

This is Ed with his family
I took their wedding photgraphs
He is a school friend of our nephew

SMALL WORLD

This is Ed's sister and family
MK lives in Pentiction
Yep she does
Her son plays hockey with our grandson

HOW NEAT IS THAT!!!!!

We shared breakfast with our friends
Ken and Devonna

We went out to Canadian Tire
to pick up a few things
Joe came back out to the van
saying
the boy's
cousin
was in the Mall
I picked up my camera
and
went in persuit of
the cousin

He was not in the play area
where Joe had seen him

I was lucky to find him
walking along
with his Mom

There he is!!
He was busy dancing around
I thought to  myself
How am I going to get a picture?????
I wanted to surprise his
Grandma Elaine

I said
Say hi to Beau

BINGO

He stopped immediately
He looked right at the camera
The sweetest little smile came upon his face
The sweetest little voice then said

Hi Beau

That was it
He then turned
and
was on his way

Kids are so funny

RAIN IS CALLED FOR THE WEEKEND

SO...........
We decided to hit the road on Saturday
Thought it would be a good
day to visit our niece
in Chatham
and have breakfast
at the William St. Cafe
then
head to the Windsor area

We
 'all'
 have our rain gear on
The ferry driver was
 'on a run'
with the golf cart so we took
refuge in the club house
while we waited for the ferry

I have a feeling this guy is driving
to the junk yard

Yup
It's going to be a rainy day

Coming over the bridge we could see
the two steeples of St. Joseph's Church
where Joe and I were married

We turned down King St.
Drove past the Capital Theatre
It has been totally renovated and is used
for plays and concerts
It sure is a far cry from 1963....
Joe took me to the Capital Theatre
on our first date!

Our first stop
The William Street Cafe
Last fall a fire broke out in one of the upper apartments
Water damage destroyed the Cafe
It is to re-open in June

Our niece Susan took us on
a tour  describing how it will look

There is going to be a wonderful
fireplace in the corner
The arch will open into the kitchen
serving area
which is now the
'makeshift' cafe

Here's Lindsey working in the little prep area

This is their motto
Susan found this sign right after the fire
WHAT A FIND

Susan's niece Jessica gave her this sign
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the teeny tiny cafe
It only has room for 4 little round tables

This is the coffee section
Behind is the arch

The Purple Pansy flower shop
is right around the corner
I often stop here when in
Chatham
Pick up a yellow rose and take it
to my Mom at
Maple Leaf Cemetary

We're now on the Bloomfield Sideroad
This was Aunt Mamie's home
When our son Graham was a young boy
Aunt Mamie would drive up to Corunna
pick up Graham and take him to her home
for a week during the summer

Next door is the Chinnick homestead
Joe's Mom lived in the home from the time of
her birth until her marriage
I asked Joe what his
favourite  memory was
of the homestead....
'Climbing in the hay loft'

Just up the road is the former country
school where Joe's parents went
to school as children
Their initials are in the brick!!!!!
In the past there have been
many Chinnick O'Rourke
family gatherings

As you can see the weather has not
improved
We're now on the 401 heading to
the little town of McGregor

REMEMBER OUR FRIENDS
MUGAN AND CASEY???
(blog)

They became engaged last
August at
Tim Horton's

WELL...............

He sold his home
She sold her home
They bought a new home

WE ARE ALL VERY HAPPY FOR
MUGAN AND CASEY

Not only did we come for a visit
but
also came to pick up firewood
for the cottage

Joe and I had a wonderful
surprise when we arrived
Our friends
Bruce and Georgette
along with Bruce's Mom
were also visiting
Then
in popped Donna Mae
then
in popped Sue

Casey Sylvia Mugan
Donna Mae Georgette Bruce Sue Di
I have 2 'Georgette' friends
The other Georgette is
Gwendolyn's dog sitter
You all know Georgette
She comments on the blog
each and every day
and
most of all
She loves Gwennie to bits!!!!

It was a grand day

Tomorrow's blog
will be on Sunday's
day
