OFF TO TORONTO

Geoffrey the giraffe

was switched from the trailer

to the van

and away we went to Toronto

Wednesday morning we took a walk

through a local park which is

located beside Lake Ontario

This lady's hat caught my eye

I really like her hat!

LOOK WHAT ELSE CAUGHT MY EYE

Are you surprised??

I can't remember his name but do remember

he is eighteen months old

He was very friendly

It was such a bright sunny morning

Some Cormorants basking in the sun

Putting on the breaks!

A very handsome Mallard Duck

Head down

Tail up

Some lucky bird made her nest

in this bird sculpture

The ''big guy' can watch out for her

Ah.......the forever popular ball cap

and

a lovely straw hat

The skyline of Toronto

You can see the CN Tower

We were waiting for the street light to

 change from red to green

when this gentleman walked across the street

with two Doberman Pinchers

Very seldom do I see this breed anymore

No sooner had the dogs crossed the street

when 

here comes a little fellow

being carried over the shoulder

.......like

a bag of potatoes

Don't know why

but

It struck me funny!!!!

Here we are driving down the 402

For the life of me I could not figure out

what was hanging on the back of the bus????

Now

How did the hanging flower basket

get on the back of the bus?????

I wonder!

As you can see a storm was brewing

Eventually we drove through it

Oh

 I can see the camera lady

I was trying to capture the

clouds and sky behind us

When we got home I checked the nest

The saga of the nest has ended

One gosling was out of the shell

however

not breathing

A few of the eggs had cracks in their shells

Even though I suspected this was  

going to be the outcome

it was not a pleasant sight

(I checked again the next morning,

all signs of eggs were gone

The nest was empty)

THE EVER CHANGING SUNSET

ON THE RIVER

I would take a photo then

go back in the cottage

Look outside again

and

 could not believe how the sky

was changing

Exquisite colours of

blues, pinks, oranges and yellow

BEAUTIFUL BLUEWATER LAND

THIS IS WHAT I SAW FIRST THING IN THE MORNING

I grabbed my camera and started

taking photos, one after the other

Had to shoot through the front window

If I had opened the door I would have

lost my 'models'

At first I thought

Oh goodie

The babies have hatched

but

That was not the case

This is another family

of

Canadian Geese

There they go!!!

Mom in the lead, Dad bringing up the rear

(Now that everyone is in the

water I can now go outside)

This is one big happy family

We think the other 'birds'

are brothers and sisters

from last year

Oh brother

Here comes a thousand footer!!

The freighter is pulling the water out from shore

and

churning up the water

What happened to the calm water

we were swimming in just a few minutes ago?????

Hey, we're out of here

Babies are sticking close to Mom

Cute, cute, cute!!!!

Here comes the wake

The family headed down river

I have not seen them since

These are the eggs I have

been watching

I could see that Mamma goose was

no where to be seen

Oh my goodness

What is going to happen

to her babies??

A THOUSAND FOOTER

I was about to send off my blog

when I noticed

a thousand footer going by

Now you can see just how

big and powerful the

lake freighter is

.....end of my story for today!

EARLY IN THE MORNING

Thought I would check on Mamma goose

Mamma is doing a good job of sitting on the nest

Papa is strutting about

A tree swallow taking in the beautiful warm sunshine

Gorgeous red tulips reaching for the sun

Coming back from my walk I noticed the butterfly

on our window screen

A sea plane flying overhead as he

practices landing in the river

A brown-headed cowbird

looking for insects

He could care less that I was there

Later in the day we drove to Chatham

As we were driving Highway 40

our eyes came upon this magnificent swan

sitting on  her nest

Her partner was not far away

A good thing

Back home again

To our concern Mamma and Papa

were once again shooed away from the nest

Guests were staying at the log cabin

and

their BIG dog was running

 'free as the wind'

Mamma and Papa stayed away from the nest

for a long, long time

As evening fell upon the island

 Mamma and Papa had not

returned to the nest

HAPPENINGS AROUND THE RIVER

Here is a beautiful Mamma to be

Through all the wind she has

remained on the nest

The nest is sitting on the grass right beside

the edge of the breakwall

THERE IS NOTHING TO BREAK THE WIND

The river has lots of activity

Do you see the face in the photo?

When I first looked at the picture

I thought

What the heck???????????

I took the photo through the window

It's the TV screen reflecting on the glass

Crazy

Went back to check  on the geese

I asked a neighbour

Why is the goose lying like this?

He said

He thinks he is hiding

and

doesn't realize he's out in the open

Oh

I said

Umm

A colourful group of daffodils

Someone went to a lot of trouble

by hanging this bike in a tree

What was that all about??

Wonder what is down there?

 I'm going to check it out!!

I can't think of a good line, ha,ha,ha

This afternoon Gwendolyn shooed the Mamma

off the nest

I was surprised that both Mamma and Papa let her do that

It took awhile for Mamma to come back to the nest

I was worried that she was away too long

We were not happy with Gwendolyn's behaviour

and

she knew it

Our very beautiful flowering tree

Today was a good day
