SATURDAY AND SUNDAY ON AND AROUND THE RIVER

Saturday I took my chair and sat out by the breakwall. I put the long lens on my camera and was ready for any type of action that came my way.

This sailboat was making it's

way up river

There was a nice breeze for the sail

The flags were loving the wind

The poor Arizona flag

is getting smaller and smaller

I looked over to see the

carpenter busy at work

What is he building???

Gwendolyn soaking up

horse shoe pit

Checking out the wheel house

A walk to the backyard

Oh

A bicycle rack

The bikes are right by

the shed

They are waiting for

the grandchildren!!!!!

I'd say most of the flowers

have had their day

however

this one is just blooming

It started out

with just a little cutting

from our friend's bush

Our poor ol' dock

We're waiting for lumber

Wonder if the dock will

be finished by fall?????

NORWEGIAN FREIGHTER SIDSEL KNUTSEN

This morning we hopped in our little boat and down river we went to St. Clair, Michigan to take some photos of the freighter that went aground on Tuesday.

The 533-foot lake freighter was carrying a load of fuel oil to Montreal when fire broke out in its engine room.

The out-of control- ship came within metres of slamming into the seawall on the U.S. side before its anchor caught and held.  The ship then swung about in the current (Sarnia Observer newspaper)

Sure enough, the ship was heading right for shore

These were not required

Anchors in place

Tugboat waiting in the wings

This tug has a job to do!

This tug appeared on the scene while we were there

A 'diver' on board the tug

The crew of the ship checking things out

A few different angles of the ship

The tanker was southbound when it hit a buoy

near a shallow area in the middle of the river

It swung around and headed for the sea wall

This morning

There were some spectators

on the mainland

MEET.........

He is one big boy!!!!!!!!

Customers and staff in a nearby restaurant

fled the building when they saw the ship

coming towards them

We're on our way back up river

Which way is the wind blowing Gwennie????

We have docked the boat

the hooks are secure

I am out of the boat

the captain is out of the boat

Out hops Gwendolyn

ONLY

The waves of a 'dang' cruiser

rock the boat

as the dog is jumping

from the boat to the dock

DOWN

she goes

between the boat and dock

The captain is flat on the dock

he gets her

ONLY

to loose her

DOWN

she goes again

The captain and the camera lady

 jump in the river

We rescue the dog

Gwendolyn clings to the captain

Everyone is catching their breath

and their 'hearts'

LESSON TO BE LEARNED

When a life jacket

is broken

it must be repaired

immediately

Gwendolyn's life jacket

broke the beginning

of the summer

Gwendolyn will not go in

the boat until the toggle

is replaced

NOTHING TOO EXCITING HAPPENING AROUND HERE

As you will see by the photos I have been grasping at straws ..............

Each time I see the dog

and cat sleeping

side by side

I run for my camera

One morning I sat in my Grandmother's

wicker chair

Camera in hand

with the long lens attached

I was entertained by the finches

A red winged blackbird waiting for me

to leave my spot

This American goldfinch

was picking at the flowers

My cardinal comes to feed

morning and evening

As I was sitting in the chair

I heard a bird call

that I was not familiar with

I believe this is a

Baltimore Oriole

(Female)

The gardens are still beautiful

however

you can tell summer

is half over

Another morning

Another snuggle

Late Sunday afternoon

on Lake Huron

SURPRISE!!!!

Yesterday we were eating mussels

and

look what we found in a mussel!

The mussels came from

Prince Edward Island

This star fish is a long way from home

THEY WERE EATING MUSSLES

I did try one

It was

OK

The starfish is now

in our garden

along with the shells

A tall ship went by yesterday

It is always exciting to see

the ol' ships go by

Today is a beautiful day

the humidity has gone

and

we have wonderful breezes

It's lovely!
