SUNDAY JANUARY 22, 2012

Sunday morning I decided to do a blog
'on the day'

Each morning when I get up I first of all turn the computer on then have my morning coffee sitting at the desk
This morning was no exception even though we were going out for breakfast

This is my view!

8:45 a.m.
It was our turn to drive
We picked up our friends Ken and Devonna
at their home in Montessa

Off to the 'Cafe' we went for breakfast

Joe and I suggested the Cafe
since it was close to our RV park
We left the Cafe at 9:40 in order to get to church before 10 o'clock

St. George's
When we drove down the street towards the side street where the church is located there were many many cars ahead of us all going to the same place
Hmmmmm.....
We should have left the Cafe earlier
Snowbirds were flocking to the church
We ended up sitting way way at the back of the church
Actually we were not even in the church but sitting in 'an ante room'
where we could still see the altar if we strained
There was a screen at the side of the room where we could watch the Mass if so desired
There must have been well over 1200 people who attended the Mass
Ask me if we will get there earlier next week?????
You bet!!

The first Western dance class started at 1 p.m.
I took my camera to the class

Ken and Devonna attended the class

The ball room was packed with western dancers

Our instructors Kathy and Jim were on the stage so everyone could see what the next step would be

The students!!!!!
We were having a great time
counting five six seven eight!

We dance each Sunday afternoon for an hour
We have now moved up to the next level
Yeah for us!!!!!!!!

HA
These boots were made for dancing!!

After dancing we went over to the Superstition Mountain Lost Dutchman Museum where they had a native celebration that took place over the weekend
We had a lovely chat with this fine lady

The Ocotilla is starting to turn green

If I were a bird I would find another place to sit other than on a Saguara cactus
However
Their home may be inside this cactus

Do you see the photo of Ronald Reagan???Many  many western movies were filmed in Arizona
These photos are displayed inside the Apacheland Movie Ranch Barn

Inside the movie barn

Here is the Elvis Memorial Chapel
These two buildings are the sole survivors of the two fires which devasted Apacheland in 1969 and 2004.......both the chapel and the barn were donated to the museum
The structures were taken down board-by-board and nail-by-nail to be reconstructed later on the grounds of the Superstition Mountain Museum

The chapel figured prominently in the movie Charro

Back home again

Interesting.......
We have had very few spectacular sunsets this season
The evening sky was painted in beautiful colours of pink blue and yellow
This was a wonderous sight I thought

P.S.
Come January the RV park fills up with coaches and 5th wheels
It is very hard to get a good WIFI signal
It has taken three days for me to 'brouse' photos for the blog
Normally I am a patient girl
but when this happens I turn into a wild woman
ha-ha
So..........
the blogs may be far and few between now and the time we leave the park the middle of March

I'm not forgetting you
I'm just trying to keep my sanity!!!!!!

  3. So wifi signal is the reason for the sporadic posts. I have wondered as I know you take your camera everywhere. I am looking forward to next week's post!
