THIS IS WHAT A LACROSSE PRACTICE IS ALL ABOUT

This afternoon I took my lawn chair and camera and parked myself at the side of the lacrosse field

Of course the young lady in the photos is our granddaughter Zoe

First up was a quick run around the field

Next up were some stretching exercises

One two three go

Touch the ground and back they go

The girls are now going left to right
around the cones
changing their grip on the stick from left to right

The ball is scooped up off the ground then passed to the next girl

Here the girls make two long passes
and a short pass

Break time
I heard the coach say....
This is the fun part coming up!!!!!!

HA

Sprinting

Then jogging and finally walking
before the sprints started again
Around and around they went for at least 15 minutes

Finally
break time
water time

Lines of three
This is called
HAMBURGER

They were facing backward
The ball was thrown
The whistle blew
The girls turned around
The girls ran after the ball
and
headed for the net

She scores

The girls waiting their turn
The other goalie is off to the side

Warming up
There were two goalies
One for the Junior Varsity team
and one for the Senior team

Zoe has the ball
The two girls are playing defence
The plan is to get by them and get to the net!

Shooting at the goalie

Lacrosse bags sticks and water bottles

Another half hour to go

Their two hour practice is coming to a close

The sun is going down
on the park

I was totally intrigued with the practice
It gave me a better understanding of the game

The girls will repeat the process tomorrow and Thursday

THANKS GIRLS

  2. Wow I never knew there was so much involved in lacrosse practices. Actually never really gave it consideration and it makes sense there would be lots of running and coordination exercises. Thank you for educating me, pictorially :)

  3. The coaches and girls take their sport seriously. It shows in the drills and exercises. Lots of energy out there...they are young.

  4. WOW Lacrosse is grueling. I wonder if they put more into it because they know they are being photographed. Forget that. I'm sure after 30 seconds they just think about LACROSSE,
