AUGUST FUN TIME

just putting together some pictures
from the past week

last saturday we went sailing with our friends
it was wonderful being on the boat again
a perfect afternoon

the barge finally came to put in the
rest of the spliles
for our neighbour's side of the dock
ray has been waiting and waiting
it was a welcome sight to see the barge
coming up river

it was funny to see hockey equipment
in this boat

i went to london one day last week for lunch
and a visit with sister shirley
shirley is an ursuline nun who for more
 than 15 years gave
'the best friends'
a retreat at the
ursuline's cottage
at erie beach

we took the long way around the island
i noticed someone had put the
canadian and american flag
on a stick
and stuck it in the ground
this is an area called
breezy point
a great hang out for boaters

coming up to the cottage from the south
i cannot get over how the trees have grown
but
it has been 30 years of growth for most of the trees!

i looked down from the dinner table and there
was gwendolyn sleeping with her
'best friend' at her nose!
she has an evening ritual with joe where
as soon as dinner is finished she brings
the purple friend to him to fill it with
treats
she bugs and bugs him for the next treat
after 4 treats he tells her
that's all......they're all gone
she then jumps up on the sofa
and falls asleep
every night this happens!!!!!

saturday we had 15 at the dinner table
it was our 3rd annual arizona party
these folks have a  home in arizona
or
have a 5th wheel
or
have visited arizona
a grand time was had by all

at one point in time gwendolyn decided to
sit indoors
we started out on the end of the dock as it
was much cooler out there
the weather didn't co-operate though so
we ended up in the cottage
moved the furniture around
to 'sit' everyone!!!
the weather changed her mind again
we were able to eat ouside which was
GREAT!!!!

the 'americans' are
ready to hit the road
back to port huron

the first golf cart is heading through the forest
to the ferry
it will be back for the second load

the next morning we attended
a dock breakast
everyone on the island was invited
this was perfect for us
as we had 4 overnight guests
joe made an egg mushroom spinach frittata
which added to all the other breakfast dishes
it was a super delicious spread!!!!

joe and i had a lazy sunday afternoon
later in the day we went out to the end of the dock
i put my 'long lens' on my camera
and
got a couple of 'action' shots of
our neighbour out in the river
all of a sudden
the wind came up
the clouds rolled in
and
the rain came
you can see how fast the cruiser is going
i'm sure he was trying to out run the storm

  2. Enjoyed being a part of your social life on the island. Fun to see people I know, too. I have to say, Dianne, the last photo had me puzzled for quite awhile. It looks like Katy & Zoe are next to a very large bat...a fish...Oh, a palm tree! Big deal for the girls to be attending hs. Enjoy your last month or so on the island.

  3. Awh Gwennie xoxox a creature of habit and entertainment, love her ! Diane let me know what kind of treats Joe puts in there as I would love to continue this here with her. I love gatherings of friends and food doesn't get any better and your island setting is perfect. Good luck to the girls on their first day of high school !! Such excitement and potential !!
