NEW ZEALAND

I saw in the newspaper and on the TV
where Christchurch New Zealand
had another earth quake

We were in Christchurch in August of 2006

Graham and Lyndsay were attending
Lincoln University
They were going on a week long school trip
so.......
we went along to keep the young boy company
during the day

Do you remember the incident about the passport????

We arrived at the Detroit airport
'Checking in'
I went first
then
Joe's turn
The ticket agent said......
You can fly
but
your husband cannot
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!
His passport had expired
NO WAY
OH YES
Joe went home to get a new passport
Dianne flew to New Zealand on her own
'Big deal for Dianne'
Joe pleaded his case to the travel agent
Joe pleaded his case to the passport agent
They all felt sorry for him
They took care of him
Two days later he was on his way

This was one honkin' big plane

The next morning after my arrival
we went downtown Christchurch
to the Cathedral
It was magnificent

The organist was doing his thing

I understand there was a great deal of structual damage to the Cathedral
after the earth quake a few months ago

We then took a tour of the city
Do you see the seagull on the statue's head?

Boys will be boys
Of course if there is another route other than
the sidewalk it will be found

Cute dog in the passenger seat of the
MINI MIX
cement truck

One would wonder if the city still looks like this???

Next day

We are at the airport
We are flying to Wellington to meet Papa Joe

The young boy with 'Snuggles'

One sweet boy

Checking out the downtown area
Somebody is on a lean

Up up we go on a cable car
Putting in time until Papa's plane arrives

What is the young boy saying to his Dad?????

The university students!

Now we are at a little zoo

Big stretch

Another stretch

Checking things out

We're about to head to the airport

TO BE CONTINUED...........

  1. I too wonder what Christchurch looks like these days. They were in the process of rebuilding only to be struck again ! Very sad and challenging.... Dianne you took fabulous photos. I love the one of the lion stretching :o)
